your reputation as a professional is not only important to you, but is essential to your clients and, if applicable, colleagues and employer. Keeping your knowledge, expertise and skills up-to-date is a key aspect of ensuring your continued excellent reputation as a professional practitioner.
Constant updating of skills is vital to success in any industry, but it’s especially true in the nail and beauty industry. CPD is about keeping up-to-date with the latest treatments, products, techniques equipment, business developments and chemistry knowledge. In the professional beauty industry, all of these factors are constantly evolving and it is your duty as a nail professional to be in the know for the benefit of your own business and the safety of your clients.
“I believe in always striving to be your best. Skill building courses help to improve your knowledge and learn new things. I still, after years in the indusrty, invest in training to improve my skills. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new!”
Emma Edwards – Head of Education
You are responsible for you own personal development and should keep track of it via a CPD log. This record should act as evidence of your development over 12 months, be correct and up-to-date while meeting the requirements of their professional body or association, according to the CPD certification service.
With the increasing amount of professional bodies using CPD as their accreditation service, CPD wanted to give something back to these people, by setting up a points system. The definition of CPD Points, is the time spent for a delegate to be in active learning. An example of this would be a 1-day accredited CPD training course: If the training starts at 9 am and ends at 5 pm, with a 1-hour break for lunch, the CPD Hours would be 7 CPD Hours. By this, it is meant that typically 1 CPD point equals 1 CPD Hour.
